To: "Kim Mills" <[email protected]>Hi Kim. I think you are on the right path re Harry Laws. I have checked the material referenced in your e-mail .
Our family were never interested in genealogy. I never heard anyone talk about Harry’s family and never heard of a brother or friend from UK named William. Also when Norman was stationed in England I never heard any reference to his visiting familyin the UK as most of the Canadians did.
Also Mother & Dad did not talk about their parents. Other persons mentioned Harry H playing the piano or organ for social functions in the community and Elsie Mae was a pretty, well dressed, personable lady.We drove by Clarke’s cemetery in Hiberniaand the Anglican cemetery Queenstown many times and I did not find out that Harry H was buried in Hibernia and Dads younger sister Mildred ( 1906 – 1911) was buried at Queenstown until I started working on the family tree. I knew that Elsie Mae was buried in the Anglican cemetery Head Line NB, no head stone, and that gran mother Elenor Cynthia (Wilson) Graham was also buried at Headline NB. When grampa Richard Graham died in 1943 a stone for Richard and Elenor was erected.
I was researching some land grants in NB and found that a William Puddington, was issued and registered on 1785 –05 –20 in Carleton Township 1.19 acres each of land. I assume that William, Margaret and mother Mary were included in the grant. I knew that William owned lot 35 Parr Town, Carleton Township which is now West Saint John. He later sold this property and bought land in Clifton where he manufactured boats.
Keep up the good work. Take Care
Earle
