    This deed represents a financial settlement between siblings regarding a condition set in their father’s will. By paying $700, William Love effectively "bought out" the lifetime maintenance obligation he owed to his sister, Margaret, as stipulated in Owen Love's 1895 will. This transaction cleared the title of Lot 14, Concession 14, allowing William full ownership of the property free from the encumbrance of supporting his unmarried sister. The document was witnessed by Alma Maude Robinson and sworn before commissioner L. Harstone on the same day it was registered.

    This Indenture made in duplicate the Seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four.

    Between Margaret Love of the Township of Downie in the County of Perth, Farmer, of the First Part And William Love of the Township of Downie in the County of Perth, Farmer, of the Second part Whereas Owen Love late of the said Township of Downie Farmer, deceased, died on the fourteenth day of January 1901 having previously thereto to wit on the Twenty sixth day of June A.D. 1895 duly made his last Will and Testament whereby he devised Lot Number Fourteen in the Fourteenth Concession of the said Township of Downie containing one hundred acres more or less to the said party of the Second part subject however to the maintenance of the party of the First Part while she remains unmarried. And whereas the said party of the First Part hath agreed with the party of the Second part to grant and release to him all her claims to said maintenance and other said lands for the consideration herein in mentioned. Now therefore this Indenture Witnesseth that the said party of the First Part for and in consideration of Seven Hundred dollars of lawful money of Canada to her in hand paid by the said party of the Second part at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) hath Granted, released and quitted claim and by these presents Both Grant Release and Quit Claim unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns for ever All the Estate right title interest claim and demand whatsoever both at law and in equity or otherwise howsoever and whether in possession or expectancy of her the said party of the First Part of in or out of All and Singular that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate, lying and being in the Township of Downie in the County of Perth and Province of Ontario Being composed of Lot Number Fourteen in the Fourteenth Concession of the said Township of Downie containing by admeasurement one hundred acres of land more or less together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging or appertaining To Have and To Hold the aforesaid lands and premises with all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging and appertaining unto and to the use of the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns for ever S.S. But nevertheless to the reservations, limitations, provisos and conditions expressed in the Original Grant thereof from the Crown. In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their Hands and Seals Signed, Sealed and Delivered In the presence of A. M. Robinson Margaret Love L.S.

    County of Perth To Wit, I Alma Maude Robinson of the Town of St. Marys in the County of Perth Stenographer make oath and say: 1. That I was personally present and did see the within Instrument and Duplicate thereof duly signed sealed and executed by Margaret Love one of the parties thereto 2. That the said Instrument and Duplicate was executed at the said Town of St. Marys 3. That I know the said party 4. That I am a subscribing witness to the said Instrument and Duplicate.
