Mrs. Lillian Marble Dies In Milwaukee; Burial In Escanaba

Mrs. Lillian Hazlett Marble, 66, a former resident of this city, and a sister of Mrs. Nicholas Berens of Escanaba, died Saturday morning at 3:15 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Joseph Schiffler in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Marble, whose maiden name was Lillian Stoffel, was born in Chicago, June 18, 1873. She had been making her home in Milwaukee with her sister for the past two years, and previous to that time had lived in California.

Surviving are the two sisters, Mrs. Schiffler and Mrs. Berens.

The body was brought to Escanaba, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Schiffler, Monday morning, and taken to the Degnan Funeral Home, and services were held later in the morning at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church, Rev. Fr. Paschal Kerner, O.F.M., officiating at the requiem high mass.

The music of the requiem was sung by the church choir, with Miss Alice Cossette, organist director at the Offertory. Mrs. Frederick Hirn sang “Domine Jesu Christe,” and as the body was being taken from the church, Mrs. Eldridge Baker sang “O Christe Salvator Mundi.”

Burial was made in the family lot in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernest Lafrenier, August Boucher, Joseph Boyer, Frank Beaudry, Henry Reese and William Viau.
