    Birthday Party

    Birthday Party

The friends and neighbours of Mr. H.K. Colgan met at his residence in Grant township, on June 22, to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of his birth. About sixty persons were present. The table was loaded with an abundance of good things of which all partook heartily and enjoyed themselves well; after which they assembled in the house and the old gentleman was made glad by numerous presents, among which was an easy chair. After the presents were handed in, short addresses were made by W. R. Miller, of Green township, and Joseph M'Cracken Esq., to which Mr. Colgan replied in a neat and pleasant speech, after which all returned to their homes feeling that a day spent cheering the aged father was not lost time to any one.
Hugh King Colgan was born in Ireland and emigrated to his country at the age of 20, landing in Philadelphia on the 14th day of June, 1834. He has always been a good and loyal citizen and neighbor.
